During our last Peace Palace Library Lecture, ‘Justice for Sale - Criminal Justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo’, Peace Palace Library Director Jeroen Vervliet presented Dr. Janine Ubink with the first edition of the book ‘The Genocide Convention – The Legacy of 60 years’, published by Brill Academic Publishers/Martinus Nijhoff. The Peace Palace Library in cooperation with the Amsterdam Center for International Law (ACIL) and the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies (NIOD-CHGS) organized a symposium in December 2008 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Genocide Convention. The book contains the 2008 conference proceedings. ‘The Genocide Convention – The Legacy of 60 years’ was edited by Professor H.G. van der Wilt, J. Vervliet, G.K Sluiter and J.Th.M. Houwink ten Cate. It comprises historical articles and articles on international criminal law. The objective of the symposium was to bring the historical and international criminal law disciplines together around the book’s theme.
