As a service to the students of the Hague Academy of International Law, the Peace Palace Library puts up lists of necessary and recommended reading for the lecturers of the Summer Courses. The Library makes these readings available in electronic format, so that the students can prepare for the courses before they come to The Hague. All documents can be downloaded from the Hague Academy Document Portal called Dokeos, for which the Academy students will receive an invitation by email.
Dokeos: Your Electronic Learning Environment during the Hague Academy’s Summer Sessions 2014
The Peace Palace Library assists the Hague Academy of International Law in preparing this year’s Summer Sessions. The Library ensures that the necessary readings for the courses and seminars are made available through the website of Dokeos, the Academy’s online learning platform. Read more on the purposes of Dokeos and how to use it.
Dokeos is an electronic learning environment where students can access the Readings Lists, meaning all written materials with regard to the obligatory readings of each Course and Seminar by each Professor. These can include Course Outlines, publication lists, links to useful websites as well as Library Research Guides. By having all these materials at your disposal, the Peace Palace Library makes it possible for the students to prepare well in advance. How exactly does Dokeos work?
By now, each student should have received an email from our colleague Mr. Ben Fackler containing a username and password. The link you have to use is: http://elearning.ppl.nl/
After logging in, you will find an overview of all the names of the professors who will participate in this Summer Session. By clicking on the name of a Professor, you’ll find the documents containing the full texts of the Necessary Readings and the lists of the Recommended and Further Readings. Noteworthy is that the Peace Palace Library will only scan a maximum of 100 pages due to copyrights law.
