Last Saturday, the Association of Attendees and Alumni of the Hague Academy of International Law, together with the United Nations Association the Netherlands, organised the first Hague Academy Model United Nations at the Peace Palace. The event brought together Academy students from all over the world to think about solutions to international problems.
The theme for this year’s MUN was “Drones and International Law”. In the morning there were lectures by experts in the field of international law, modern warfare and negotiating UN – style, followed by a lunch and a tour through the Peace Palace. In the afternoon the students immersed in a debate on the subject of drones and international law and they simulated the UN Security Council.
Overall, it was a very interesting day. Several observers were there to see how the students worked together and exchanged insights!
