On Monday, August 11, 2014, The United Nations Security Council paid a visit to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, at the Peace Palace, in The Hague, seat to the Court. The visit consisted of a private meeting between the Security Council and the ICJ President, Mr. Peter Tomka, Members of the Court and registrar, during which views were exchanged on a number of issues including the importance of international justice, the role of the Court, as well as other matters of mutual interest. At the end of the meeting the President of the Security Council, H.E. Sir Mark Lyall Grant was invited to sign the Court’s Visitors’ Book. The visit concluded with a working lunch, hosted by the President and the Members of the Court, in honour of the delegation.
