Today we bring you the first Library Newsletter of 2021! Until a few days ago, The Hague and all of The Netherlands had turned into a magnificent Winter Wonderland due to one of the heaviest snow falls we’ve experienced in recent years.
As the Peace Palace Library is still closed to the public due to the current national lockdown, the librarians are still mostly working from home. In spite of working remotely, we succeeded this past January in assisting The Hague Academy with its first Online Winter Program. The Library prepared a special video instruction to help the students make optimal use of the library's digital resources. Fortunately, we received positive feedback from the students which we will use to make improvements for future online events and activities.
In this Newsletter, we bring you as always an Academy User in the Spotlight. This time, we introduce you to Mr. Franz Zubieta Mariscal from Bolivia. Mr. Zubieta Mariscal was one of the lucky few who got to travel to The Hague and experience the Courses of the Academy in person in previous years.
Furthermore, we would like to bring to your attention that we introduced a new service on our website, namely the Live Chat Service which will enable our users to send us instant messages. The Chat Service is open on week days from 10.00 – 13.00 hrs. We look forward to hearing from so please reach out to us if you have a question for us!
Due to the ongoing lockdown in the Netherlands and in many other countries around the world, the Library has recently changed its renewal policy with regards to library memberships. In case your annual membership expires, we can now send you an online payment link which will enable our users to pay the membership fee via online banking.
We hope this will help everyone continue their work and research in these very difficult times.
We hope you enjoy reading this Newsletter. Thank you very much for your support!
Please stay safe and healthy!
Candice and Rens.
