Exhibition marks 10-year anniversary of the International Criminal Court

A multimedia exhibit in the Atrium of The Hague City Hall from 26 November to 4 December will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The exhibition was made possible by the city of The Hague and the government of Switzerland.

Library User in the Spotlight: Dr. Hendrik J. Lubbe

This month, we turn the spotlight on Dr. Hendrik J. Lubbe, currently a senior lecturer at the Law Faculty of the North-West University, Potchefstroom in South-Africa. Dr. Lubbe succesfully defended his dissertation titled Successive and Additional measures to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Amnesty Scheme in South-Africa at Tilburg University on December 13, 2010. After defending his thesis, he was encouraged and inspired by his professors to elaborate more on certain issues and included those in his book that was published this month.

New Research Guide: Ecocide

Recently, the Peace Palace Library published the Ecocide Research Guide. This aspect of International Environmental Law has gained in importance in recent years as the activities of the human species are influencing the Earth’s natural state in a way never seen before. This Guide provides the basic legal materials available in the Peace Palace Library, both in print and electronic format. Handbooks, leading articles, bibliographies, periodicals, serial publications and documents of interest are presented in the Selective Bibliography section.

Peace Palace Library Lecture: The Legacy of Raoul Wallenberg

On Tuesday October 30th 2012, the Peace Palace Library together with the Embassies of Sweden, Israel, Hungary and the United States organized a Lecture on the occasion of 100 years since the birth of Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg. To commemorate the life and the deeds of Raoul Wallenberg during the Second World War, a tree planting ceremony was held in the garden of the Peace Palace where an oak tree was planted by the Ambassadors of Sweden, Israel, Hungary and the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America.
