Woodrow Wilson was president of the United States of America from 1913 to 1921. He based his re-election campaign 1n 1916 around the slogan, "He kept us out of war". But when Germany began unrestricted submarine warfare and tried to enlist Mexico as an ally, Wilson asked Congress to declare War, War was declared on 6 April 1917.
