Visiting information

The Peace Palace Library is open 5 days a week: Monday till Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Library is closed during weekends.

Advance Registration
If a first time visitor, you will be required to register in advance on the website of the Peace Palace Library:

Subsequently, you will be issued a temporary card number and password.

Your registration must be finalized at the main desk in the Library Reading Room upon arrival. Please inform the librarian of your registration details by providing him/her with your card number that was sent to you in the registration email. Failure to register might result in security denying you access to the Peace Palace grounds.

Bringing a valid ID-card (passport, national ID or driver’s license) is required for gaining access to the Peace Palace grounds and the Library. No valid ID = No Entry.
If you have a library membership, please carry your library card with you at all times.

Library Membership
To visit/study/work at the library, a library membership is compulsory. This can either be a day membership for € 5,- or an annual membership for € 30,-
The annual membership includes remote access to the online resources for the duration of your membership.

Getting there

Due to replacement of the rails along the Scheveningseweg, public transport to the Peace Palace is experiencing a number of temporary changes.
2 temporary buses are available; bus 31 (peak hours only) and bus 61 (regular)

From The Hague Hollands Spoor
Tram 1, Direction Scheveningen Noorderstrand. The route of tram 1 has been shortened. At the stop City Centre (Centrum), please change to bus 24, bus 31 or bus 61.

Between the Peace Palace and City Centre, Tram 1 is replaced by Bus 31 and Bus 61. The bus stop is next to the Karnebeek Fountain. Change at City Centre (Centrum) to Tram 1.
