I have been frequenting the Peace Palace Library since last September and yet I still find myself straining my neck to look up at the structure of the Peace Palace every time. The building reminds me of the significance of everything that I am learning about and puts me in the proper mindset to conduct research. On certain days, such as the day of writing, I have been lucky enough to cross paths with giants in the field who are either coming out of hearings at the Court or are embarking on their own research at the Library.

Welcome to Den Haag, an international city where peace and democracy are cardinal virtues! Sunday morning and I was right there: at the entrance, just waiting for the course on the fundamentals of European Union Law. I glimpsed a path that would lead me to an intellectual journey shrouded by a serene atmosphere.

    February 17, 2017

At the turn of the century the role of Law Libraries and legal librarians had not changed fundamentally since their inception. Facing formidable challenges ever since, mostly by technology, their role has changed considerably. Law Libraries can be seen as the provider and gatekeepers of legal information. Correspondingly, a Law Library is also dependent on the institution that it is embedded within. In that sense, there is a mutually beneficial relationship.
