Library Closed until March 2, 2021
February 22, 2021Due to the confinement annoucement by the Dutch governement on February 2, 2021, the Peace Palace Library will be closed until March 2, 2021.
All online resources will be available during confinement and our programs will run without interruption, with the exception of our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services.
If you need to contact the Services Desk or you would like to speak to a Librarian, please send an email to library@peacepalace.org. As soon as we are legally able, we will gradually reopen the Library.

November 4, 2020Due to the reconfinement announcement by the Dutch government on Tuesday November 3, 2020, the Peace Palace Library will be closed, as of Thursday November 5, for a period of two weeks.
All online resources will be available during confinement and our programs will run without interruption, with the exception of our ILL Services. If you need to contact the Services Desk or you would like to speak to a librarian, please send an email to library@peacepalace.org.

Library membership will give you access to all the online resources of the Peace Palace Library from any location in the world. It will also allow you to order from our closed stacks books and publications for research in the Reading Room of the library and, provided you are living or staying in The Netherlands, you will also be able to take them outside the library (if possible). March 3, 2019For the first time in history, The Hague Academy of International Law organized a Winter Course in January of this year. A few days after ringing in the New Year, almost 300 students from 74 countries assembled in the Auditorium of the Academy Building to take part in a three week session, consisting of Courses in Public as well as in Private International Law. We had the pleasure to meet 4 students from Pakistan, Argentina, Germany and Colombia and learned that the cold weather and grey days in The Hague did not prevent them from getting the most out of their Academy experience. October 11, 2018From Sunday September 30th to Wednesday October 3rd, 2018, the annual conference of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) took place in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law (MPI LUX). The city of Luxembourg is home to many EU institutions. The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is the best-known EU institution and iconic for the development of European legislation. Luxembourg was a forerunner and a strong supporter of European political and economic integration. Robert Schumann, the famous Luxembourg citizen, stood at the cradle of European unity. The theme of this year’s IALL Conference was “the law in Luxembourg where local traditions meet European and international innovation”. On Sunday 30 September the program started with a pre-conference workshop on robots in libraries.

July 19, 2018Two of the world’s most comprehensive international law libraries, the Law Library of Congress and the Peace Palace Library have agreed to form an information-sharing relationship to exchange information and better serve library users. A memorandum of understanding was signed today in a ceremony at the Library of Congress by Law Librarian of Congress Jane Sánchez and Librarian of the Peace Palace Library Jeroen Vervliet. The agreement provides valuable insight into services, collections and cataloging at two leading law libraries.
