Tools include background information, ‘ready to publish’ texts, videos, photos, news and an events calendar. All materials are available in Dutch, French and English and can be downloaded royalty free.

    On Saturday September 21, 2013, we ended the Peace Palace Centenary Celebrations with a spectacular Peace One Day concert. The initiator of this concert is British documentary filmmaker, actor and peace activist Jeremy Gilley, who heads a non-profit organization with the same name and who is the 2010 recipient of the Carnegie Wateler Peace Prize. He hosted the concert together with fellow British actor and Peace One Day Ambassador Jude Law. During the press conference we got the chance to briefly interview them and talked about the importance of Peace One Day!

    Interview: Ms Leymah Gbowee, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

    Ms Gbowee was invited to the Peace Palace to unveil the bust of Bertha von Suttner during the celebrations of the Centenary of the Peace Palace on August 28, 2013. The Austrian Baroness Bertha von Suttner (1843-1914) was the only woman to attend the 1899 Hague Peace Conference and was present at the opening of the Peace Palace. She also was the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905 and the first woman to be honored with a bust in the Peace Palace. The editors of the Peace Palace Library Newsletter took the opportunity of Ms Gbowee’ s presence to interview her.

In this room the Peace of Münster was signed between the Dutch Republic an the Kingdom of Spain on 30 January 1648, and officially ratified in Münster on 15 May 1648. With this treaty, the United Netherlands finally became independent from the Spanish Crown.
