  • Academy Students in the Spotlight

    For the first time in history, The Hague Academy of International Law organized a Winter Course in January of this year. A few days after ringing in the New Year, almost 300 students from 74 countries assembled in the Auditorium of the Academy Building to take part in a three week session, consisting of Courses in Public as well as in Private International Law. We had the pleasure to meet 4 students from Pakistan, Argentina, Germany and Colombia and learned that the cold weather and grey days in The Hague did not prevent them from getting the most out of their Academy experience.   • The Hague Academy Event ‘Hours in Crisis’

    February 1, 2019

    During the first week of the Winter Course, 40 Academy students took part in the first ever ‘Hours in Crisis’ simulation exercise where they acted as legal counselors in a fictitious case dealing with an international crisis. The ‘Hours of Crisis’ simulation exercise, created entirely by the Academy’s Secretary-General Professor Thouvenin, lasted almost 10 hours and gave students an exciting chance to put their international law knowledge and skills to the test.

This is how the process of bringing together some of the most distinguished legal minds from all over the world starts. Legal scholars, professionals, academics, professors, they all get together in the City of Peace and Justice in order to brainstorm, research and write on a topic of world-wide concern.

    This Summer, almost 700 students from all over the world visited the Peace Palace Library during the Summer Courses of The Hague Academy. They particpated in either the Public International Law or the Private International Law and some particpated in both. We asked four students from Paraguay, Iran, Brazil and India to reflect and share with us their inspiring experiences and here is what they had to say.

  • Academy Students visit the Grotius Collection

    August 10, 2018

    During the Public Law Session of the Hague Academy, students from Colombia, South-Korea, Bulgaria, Brazil, Greece, India, Mexico, Jordan, Australia and Hungary had the opportunity to pay a visit to the illustrious Hugo Grotius Collection of the Peace Palace Library. The Peace Palace Library holds the largest Hugo Grotius Collection in the world. It’s considered one of the most important collections which are housed by the Peace Palace Library as the works of Grotius play a major role in the study of the history of international law.
